The Golden Strand that Changes Everything
He sits looking over the balcony, weaving as He watches. A golden strand in His hand, He weaves it into the garment as an eternal witness of this moment...this flash of time.Garments interwoven with gold (Ps. 45: 13, 14)."It will never be forgotten," He says. "Forever it will adorn this one I love.”
The One Who Watches
Looking down, His eyes behold the fight of love being fought, even the wounds being born, mostly in the secret places, all for the cause of highest love. And with a heart so moved by what He watches, He weaves the witness into the cloth.
“Forever this single strand of gold will be a witness of the moment that she laid down her rights in love, as I Myself laid down Mine (Phil. 2:3-8). How it moves My heart. Forever let this part of her garment invoke the memory of when she considered another better than herself, when she fought the fight of love in the age of faith. I see everything. Though I may be the only Witness of this moment and of this choice, it is enough. It is enough for her heart - for she has learned the secret of living before My eyes. And it is enough for My heart—for I am the Faithful Witness and My witness is true. I will never stop giving testimony of this part of her story.”
The angels watch again with wonder as He works so attentively with such intricacy, never neglecting the tiniest detail. “They don’t even know He’s so involved,” one muses. “Day and night He watches, day and night He adds to their garments, wherever love is chosen.”
The Reward of His Remembrance
One strand after another, He weaves, in real time and in exact correspondence with the love demonstrated by His beloved ones on the earth. His eyes alive with light and life, He beholds the details, the thoughts, and the struggles. He knows how He invited them to follow Him in lowliness and humility and how He gave the call to love —both God and men—extravagantly (Jn. 13:34 -35, 15:12). Yet He does not ask this of His beloved ones casually or with distance from the cost. He knows and counts the cost and the tears. All is so exceedingly precious to Him. He keeps each tear in a bottle (Ps. 56:8).To the angels watching, He reminds,
I told them I would reward them for that which is done in secret (Matt. 6:4, 6, 18). And I do not exaggerate. I promised I would remember every cup of cold water (Matt. 10:42). I vowed I would reward those who returned good for evil and those who lived wholeheartedly, as unto Me, instead of for the eyes of men (Lk. 6:35: Col. 3:23). I am not unjust as to forget every work and labor of love done in my name (Heb. 6:10). And surely eye has not seen nor mind conceived what I have prepared for those who love Me (1 Cor. 2:9).
In the day when each mans praise will come from God, His reward, golden in its unspeakable intimacy, is laden with the gift of His deep knowledge of every detail, His shared fellowship in all the tearings of the heart, His forever memory of the secrets He alone witnessed (1 Cor. 4:5). Rich with His deep understanding and intimate knowledge will be the garment and the reward.
The One who watches over the balcony misses nothing. He overlooks nothing. He knows no indifference to what He beholds. As the One who promised to present them to Himself as radiant and without spot, He continues to watch, to behold, and to prepare the wedding garments (Eph. 5:27).
He never wearies of His work. He never tires of the preparations for that glorious day. Continually He watches. Continually He weaves the golden strand of remembrance into the reward.
