Loving Jesus and His Return [Video]
Whether we call it eschatology or end-times, sometimes we distance ourselves from the subject of Jesus’ Return without even realizing it. Our hesitance could be due to the the many differing opinions that arise, or the strange symbols we see in the book of Revelation. Or maybe it's because the subject only conjures thoughts of the troubles surrounding that time, as spoken of in scripture (Matt. 24). Whatever the reasons may be, the result is distance. We distance ourselves from the story, from the details and from the subject.
Yet, in all of this, we forget something so simple. We forget HIM. We forget the Person behind the Story. We love a real Person – the One who gave Himself for us (Eph. 5:2). He is alive even now, sitting upon the Throne, waiting to make His enemies His footstool (Heb. 10:13). He looks to the Day ahead, “the day of the gladness of His heart,” and couldn’t be more connected to where this narrative is headed (Rev. 19:6,7; Song. 3:11). We want to join Him in that. We want to agree with what He feels and where He is leading human history.
To love Him is more than just loving what we already know of Him. It means loving all that He is, and not just a part, loving His plan, and loving His Return (Matt. 9:15; 2 Tim. 4:8).We're in the middle of a story —THE STORY. Jesus wants to reconnect us to Himself, put the finish line before our eyes, and then show us how we get there.
